Maurizio Zanella

Maurizio Zanella

Founder and Chairman - Ca' del Bosco

Bio

Maurizio Zanella was born in 1956. He studied agriculture and approached the world of wine in the 1960s, when his mother bought a small property in the hills called 'Ca' del Bosc'.

Zanella is a wine cosmopolitan who has travelled extensively and put into practice in his Franciacorta what he learnt in France, particularly in Burgundy and Bordeaux. In 1969 he created Ca' del Bosco, today the leading producer of Franciacorta fine bubbles.

The pre-eminence of Ca' del Bosco was driven by Zanella's passionate enthusiasm. In the early 1970s, Zanella embraced his artistic creativity and became one of the protagonists of the Italian wine renaissance, transforming what was once a house in the chestnut woods into one of the most modern wine cellars in the country.
